VOLUNTEERING
Roll up your sleeves and give us a hand

Moravian Open Door hosts at least five major events each year, in addition to those special occasions that are hosted by churches, youth groups, or other volunteers. These celebrations help bring another bit of normalcy into people's lives – people who may not have had much to celebrate before coming to MOD.

Please contact Moravian Open Door to schedule an event hosted by your group!

Events hosted by Moravian Open Door in the last year:

Independence Day Barbeque: MOD clients, client guests, interns, and staff celebrated with hot dogs and hamburgers grilled on the patio, potato salad, juice and soda.

Labor Day Barbeque: MOD clients, client guests, interns, and staff celebrated with hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, juice and soda.

Thanksgiving Day Dinner: MOD clients, staff, and interns enjoyed a feast of baked turkey, cabbage, rice, macaroni & cheese, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, cake, coffee, tea, soda and juice.

Christmas Day Celebration and Dinner: A festive celebration in the Common Room with a beautifully decorated Christmas tree offered a feast of baked turkey, chicken, ham, rice, macaroni & cheese, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, cake, coffee, tea, soda and juice. After the meal, personal gifts were distributed to each client and intern; these were provided by the Angel Tree program at Castleton Hill Moravian Church.

Women’s Luncheon: This special event in June brought together the women who reside at MOD. Lunch was prepared by caseworker Desiree Barrett. In the coming year, it will be held close to Mother’s Day.
