MOD is supported solely by private donations and modest client service fees. Because MOD does not receive any city, state or federal funding, every gift is vital. We use your contributed dollars with care. MOD is proud of the fact that almost 94¢ of every dollar contributed goes directly towards client services. All financial donations are tax deductible.

Donate In-Kind
MOD has many Ongoing Needs:
- bedding (twin-size sheets and pillow cases, pillows, blankets)
- hand towels, bath towels, washcloths
- personal grooming items (bath or hand soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, shaving cream and razors, shampoo, hand cream, lip balm)
- non-perishable food for snacks, meals
- gift cards (for groceries, building or office supplies, and electronics)
- winter coats (men and women; medium, large, and extra large)
- clothing (new or gently used sweaters, shirts, gloves, scarves)
- office supplies (multipurpose paper, business envelopes, post-it notes)
- books, magazines and games
- batteries (contact us for size)

Donate your Time and Skills
There are many ways in which you can help MOD by volunteering.
Become a 1-1 Sponsor
The 1-1 program connects a sponsor and a resident. Sponsors (individuals or groups) correspond with a resident by sending cards or notes on special occasions such as a birthday or holiday. They also commit to an annual donation of at least $250 to MOD’s Good Samaritan Fund that supports residents with emergency needs.
Let a resident know there is someone beyond the community at MOD who cares. To participate, contact MOD’s Executive Director.
Donate by Shopping Online
Have businesses donate for you by shopping online at your favorite stores through IGive. First go to the IGive portal and select your cause as Moravian Open Door, Inc. Shop at any of the 1500+ stores, and each store at which you make a purchase will give a percentage of the purchase price of your order to Moravian Open Door. You do not pay anything extra for your purchase—the store makes the donation.
Make a Legacy Gift
Imagine how much more MOD could accomplish if you dedicate a portion of your estate, whatever size, in a planned gift to MOD. The most common way to remember MOD is through a bequest in your will or living trust; a bequest is entirely under your control during life and only paid to MOD at your passing. Another way to make a planned gift is through a life income gift; the most popular options for this kind of gift are gift annuities and charitable trusts.
Moravian Open Door is pleased to work with the Moravian Ministries Foundation, an interprovincial agency of the Moravian Church in America, to help our supporters with planned giving decisions. The Foundation offers a full suite of planned giving tools to help you accomplish your charitable goals and these tools can help you maintain income, claim tax benefits, or support loved ones in addition to supporting MOD.
